What does Naperville UW accomplish with its investments?

The Naperville United Way is a community partner focused on creating lasting changes in people?s lives. Based upon needs assessment work completed in 2005, the Naperville United Way focuses on three issue areas:

  • Helping People in Crisis
  • Helping Children and Youth Succeed
  • Helping Adults Achieve Self-Sufficiency.

Helping People in Crisis

In the area of Helping People in Crisis, the Naperville United Way invests in three community outcomes:

  1. Provide adequate interim housing to those in crisis
  2. Provide critical care to those in crisis
  3. Ensure no one goes hungry

This year we invested in 12 programs focused on these outcomes.

Helping Adults Achieve Self-Sufficiency

In the area of Helping Adults Achieve Self-Sufficiency, the Naperville United Way invests in twenty-seven programs. Each program accomplishes at least one of the following community outcomes:

  • Provide a safety net to individuals and families in need of support to help them become stable
  • Support health and wellness related education
  • Foster economic independence

Helping Children and Youth Succeed

In the area of Helping Children and Youth Succeed, the Naperville United Way invests in 23 programs that fulfill four community outcomes in this impact area:

  1. Provide child-care for financially challenged families in order to promote the development of competent and confident children in a safe, nurturing environment
  2. Educate children and youth to make healthy choices
  3. Provide youth with the necessary training to develop positive and productive life skills
  4. Assist at-risk children and youth to reach their full potential through counseling and therapy
